Telugu Association of Greater Sacramento (TAGS)
Telugu Association of Greater Sacramento (TAGS) is a non-profit organization established in December 2003, to bring together the people of Telugu origin residing in the greater Sacramento area. TAGS celebrates various Telugu festivals throughout the year, as well as a summer picnic and a Cricket Tournament. TAGS also organizes a health seminar and a fundraising event.
Objectives of TAGS:
- To represent Telugu Culture & Literature in Sacramento, California and in the United States of America.
- To develop cooperation and harmony within the Telugu community in Sacramento and in the United States.
- To expose Telugu culture and heritage to the youth of Telugu origin.
- To build mutual goodwill, understanding, and respect between the general people of North America and Andhra Pradesh, India and to contribute to social peace, harmony, and economic growth.
- To represent, protect, and promote the interests of persons of Telugu origin.
- To act as an organization to collect and transfer donations, Charities etc. at local, national, and international level for social, cultural, educational, economic, and humanitarian causes.
- To organize and participate in the regional and national events which promote Telugu culture.
- To promote friendship and cultural exchange with other similar organizations.
